Songs

(to be sung to the trad. folk tune that usually accompanies the song 'Lord of the Dance', with apologies to Syndney B. Carter, and to Richard Garfield, the creator of RoboRally)

I danced in the morning when the game was begun,
And I danced round the board and I ordered lots of FUN,
And I came down the conveyor and touched the repair,
At Checkpoint one I had my birth.

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Dance Commander, said he.
And I’ll lead you all through phases two and three,
And I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I danced for the Trundle Bot and Twonky,
But they had bad cards and they could not follow me;
I danced for the Squash Bot and the Hammer Bot;
They lasered me and the dance went on.

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Dance Commander, said he.
And I’ll deal you all nothing but forward three,
And I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I moonwalked around a pit to make my name,
For Dance Dance Robolution was my game;
I kicked and I shimmied and I grabbed my crotch;
And I pumped up the volume to the 'leventh notch.

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Dance Commander, said he.
And I’ll power down when my cards number three,
And I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I reached the conveyor and the sky turned black;
It’s hard to nop when you're going round the track;
I was heading pitwards and they thought I’d gone,
But I am the dance and I still go on.

Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Dance Commander, said he.
And I’ll beat you all to checkpoint number three,
And I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.

I checked out an archive and I leapt up high,
I am the dance that’ll never, never die;
I’ll dance with you if you’ll dance with me;
I am the Dance Commander, said he.
